Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
The husband fixed broke our toilet in a sincere attempt to make it less wobbly. I never noticed that it wobbled, but he did. So, in an attempt to ‘fix’ it, he broke it. Which meant trips to Home Depot. He then ‘fixed’ it, ensuring it was “ROCK SOLID” only to find out that now it is 1000 times worse. Now, we affectionately call it, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.

Check!
We now have heat in the basement AND fixed the heat for the first floor. Before today each time our heat went on it would make a loud BANG sound. You actually become familiar with the noise after a while, and now it is a bit odd not hearing it. Anyways, it had something to do with the size of the ducts and the heat sensor. In addition, our guest bedroom was lacking heat before today —...
Just a little something...
On to a simpler project that isn’t entirely finished just yet….
When we moved in to our new house we got a bigger bed. That mean the headboard we had just purchased went to the guest room. We knew we wanted a headboard like this:
We also knew we didn’t want to spend the money on something that looked like a fun DIY Saturday project.
Off we went to Joanne Fabrics and Home...
Happy One Year Anniversary!
This past Friday was the one year anniversary of our lovely little home. We can’t believe it’s been a year!
To the best decision we’ve ever made (other than marrying each other and getting bocce, of course!). To the house that was nothing that we wanted, we have everything. We like to call it our little trailer, as it needs some MAJOR renovations to add character to the...
Oh vey.
The bathroom was beyond repulsive. On a scale of zero to maroon it was definitely maroon and pink times 1,000. As with the kitchen, we’re stuck in this predicament between really putting money into the room when we hope to do a big renovation in a few years. Why do it all up if you plan on tearing it all out in a few years?!? While I would LOVE a brand spanking new bathroom, we decided to...
Job #2 - the living room.
Our living room was a nice large room with a big beautiful window. The room shape was rectangular which makes it harder to set up.
Here is what it looked like at the open house:
Shades were horrible. Color was horrible. Mantle was dull. The room had ZERO character. Well, minus those lovely kitchen chairs (blah — kidding, of course!) lined up against the wall.
Here is another angle:
The...
Job #1 --- the kitchen
Our first job was the kitchen. We could not live with it the way it was:
So, to save money until we actually really renovate the kitchen—- we want to expand to the back eventually —- we got cabinets from someone else, sanded them down and painted them ourselves. We purchased a new countertop (on the cheap!), added a dishwasher and some counter space and spent a little more money on...
Clean slate.
I’m starting this blog over. Here’s to hoping to motivates us to continue with our house renovations. Over the next few days I’ll try to update the work that we’ve done as we continue on our home repair/update journey. Enjoy!
