It’s painted!
So, after insisting that we were painting the basement, we decided to have professionals do it. Well, everything but the bathroom. We’ll paint that. I really, really love painting, but we’re on a time crunch now that our rug is scheduled to be installed next week. This weekend is devoted to the bathroom tiling, so there wasn’t much time. So, that’s that. I still promise to do a post about painting when we do the basement!
Yesterday we quickly decided on paint colors. We knew we wanted very neutral colors so we could spice it up with pops of color in pillows, blankets and other accessories. We wanted the movie room a bit darker and the office/guest room very light. Here is a list of paint colors:
Trim: Benjamin Moore White Dove
Movie Room: Benjamin Moore Historical Color Greenbrier Beige
Hallway & Stairs: Benjamin Moore Historical Color Elmira White
Office: Benjamin Moore Historical Color Bone White
Laundry Room: Behr Prime & Paint Colosseum Marble
Here is the stairwell. We had to figure out how to even out the molding on the walls to hide the old walls/molding. There was a weird space there and it looked bad with a capital B. I’ll gladly take the credit for thinking of putting in a small little shelf. I think we will make something to hold all of the husbands golf balls from all of the places he golfs….if you were unaware, he has a slight obsession.

Love the details of the molding:

View to bathroom, you can see the Greenbrier Beige color:

In the bulkhead hallway we created a space for the dehumidifier. That is a MUST for a basement. It will empty into the plumbing behind the wall and fits in the spot seamlessly. Naturally we had to go over the top with the molding and make it ‘pop’.

Wall across from laundry room (I’m considering stenciling this wall — also, we want cubbyholes below the dehumidifier):

Oh, and there is a second electrical room that rarely gets mentioned. It’s behind the tv wall and is accessed off of the office. When we ordered the doors they didn’t send the one door for this space, so we’re picking it up and installing it this weekend. But, this electrical space houses the electric panel, the invisible fence and will also contain shelves for storage and for all of the tv supplies.

Oh, and here is an up close shot of something that decorates the shelf in our laundry room. The husband got this as a gift before I came around and he refuses to let it go as he thinks it is so funny. So, it has found a home in the laundry room:

Yep. That’s dog the bounty hunter and his wife, Beth. They watch me do laundry.
